What is search intent?
Search intent, also known as user intent or query intent, refers to the underlying motivation or goal behind a user's search query on a search engine. It's the reason why a person typed a particular query into the search bar.
In digital marketing, businesses need to understand search intent to be able to create relevant and useful content that matches the user's goal. By delivering content that satisfies the user's search intent, businesses can increase their chances of ranking higher in search engine results pages (SERPs) and drive more traffic to their website.
There are four types of search intent:
Informational Intent: the user is looking for information on a particular topic.
Navigational Intent: the user is searching for a specific website or webpage.
Transactional Intent: the user is looking to make a purchase or perform a specific action, such as signing up for a service.
Commercial Investigation Intent: the user is researching a product or service with the intention of making a purchase in the future.
