CRO Strategist

We're looking for a CRO Strategist to join our 100% remote team. We’re a digital marketing agency that helps Ecommerce stores grow with paid marketing.

Highlights

  • 100% remote team
  • Rapidly growing company because we're doing it right—for our clients and team
  • Growth-focused; we'll invest in you to make you a genuinely elite specialist
  • Relatively small client portfolio per account manager, letting you give each their due care and attention
  • Huge upward growth potential

Job Description

You will be a CRO Consultant, directly handling the strategy, testing, and optimization for a select number of clients with ecommerce stores. You may also be asked to mentor less experienced team members, ensuring the highest standard of work.

The technical side of things...

We've historically specialized in Google Ads for eCommerce, and we're now developing CRO to add to our service offering. We're generating quality traffic for our clients, and it's now time to boost their conversion rates. You'll be leading CRO for existing clients and the new clients we onboard as we grow this department.

  • You're someone who's excited about knowing what we know and learning what we're learning.
  • You'll be creating CRO projects from start to finish, setting them up according to your own strategy, always driven by thorough data analysis.
  • You'll perform meticulous audits with Google Analytics & Hotjar, providing digestible summaries of what you've found and what we'll execute.
  • You'll work within processes and guides that have been set up. Rather than finding them restrictive to ‘how you do things', you'll see how effectively they cut down on errors and missed opportunities. You'll also love adding your own suggestions to improve these processes.
  • Your attention to detail will be the stuff of legend. From the resume you submit, to your every client communication, to the eventual autobiography of your rise in KeyCommerce, everything will be double-checked for spelling, grammar, and professional presentation.

The people side of things...

Our client relationships are exceptional. Each store owner came to us with a business they've heavily invested their time and money into, and they chose us to take them to the next level. It's an incredible responsibility, and we throw ourselves into making each one a success story.

  • You'll be the primary point of contact on all things CRO-related for each client assigned to you. You'll communicate with them frequently, either answering questions they have for you (this can range from technical stuff to soliciting simple advice), and provide them a weekly report by video — detailing what was done, any commentary you feel relevant, and what's coming up in the next week.
  • You'll be mentored by someone whose role is dedicated to your development. Once you've made it onto our team, our focus is sharpening your skill set to be the best of the best. That means both client relations and technical prowess. The learning never stops, and we support each other like a true team. Sound intense? Maybe. But if this is the field you want to make a career in, this is the environment you want.
  • As a CRO Account Manager, you'll also mentor team members who can benefit from your vast experience in this field. You'll promote the high standards needed to give clients the service they need and set an example through your own account management that the team can refer to.
  • Your co-workers—which work remotely from around the world—come with a full spectrum of personalities, previous work experiences, and specializations. Really, the only two common factors to everyone are the principle of putting the client first and an eagerness to develop.

The strategic side of things...

Business is hard—otherwise we'd all be billionaires. Sure, experienced CRO experts can often find some easy profit wins for their clients, but taking their business to the next level requires more than clever tweaks and a winning smile. Competitors have that too, and they usually pack a bigger budget.

  • You'll stay on top of industry trends and changes, think ahead on their implications and plan how to turn these factors to each client's advantage. Fortunately, you've got a team of brains to collaborate and geek out with.
  • You'll thoroughly review your oncoming client's platforms, website, competitors, and industry benchmarks before you even chat with them the first time. By then, you'll no doubt have a list of questions for them and a strong sense of the initial strategy to roll out first.
  • Speaking of rolling, you'll roll with the punches. No strategy is sacred; only the results are. You'll have plan Bs for what happens if a test doesn't work and an understanding of how to gauge that it didn't. You aren't married to methods; you only want to figure out what works for the client.

What Should You Have?

  • You need to have experience with Conversion Rate Optimization; no less than 3 years. You've worked with multiple accounts, reported to clients, set up, managed, and optimized successful sets of split tests.
  • Communication skills. You can explain things well to clients, speak confidently about the technical and strategic aspects of what you're doing, and always frame things with empathy for the client's perspective. You alleviate confusion—not cause it.
  • Ambition to become one of the best. Sure, it's easy for us to say everything we've said about becoming an elite professional in this space, and it's easy for you to say “yeah, I mean, sure, let's do it.” For all the agencies out there that talk the talk, there's one that's simply the best. That's where we're headed. You're busting at the seams to be one of the best.
  • Humility and honesty. This is actually our first core principle. Being humble means staying open to things outside your wheelhouse, knowing there's so much to test and learn. Being honest is easy for some, not so much for others. No one fakes their way through what we do for clients.
  • Be resourceful. You can have a ton of experience, and be a master communicator, and have ambition up the wazoo, and be wonderfully honest and humble. But you need one more thing in spades: initiative. The challenge of CRO must intrigue and drive you to always be pushing for better, drawing on your team, curiously testing, and constantly mulling new, forward-thinking ideas. You focus on solutions rather than problems.

The technical requirements

  • A/B and multivariate testing experience
  • Experience with testing tools
  • Experience managing post-launch QA results in monitoring, statistical analysis of test results, assistance with test plans and test strategy, maintaining CRO roadmap documentation
  • Proficient using Excel/Google Sheets
  • Proven track record of improving digital conversion rates through testing
  • High-level of knowledge working with Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager, as well as other web analytics tools
  • Strong familiarity with editing, maintaining, and optimizing custom web storefronts, particularly Shopify
  • Experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript is a bonus
  • Ability to adopt different user testing strategies and analysis of testing results to drive customer-focused decision
  • Experience with data visualization
  • Experience in a mobile-first approach
  • Experience with UX design, wireframing, and usability principles
  • Knowledge of paid marketing channels including paid social, paid search, display
  • Experience conducting CRO audits across platforms, browsers, devices, and channels
  • Ability to define objectives and prepare KPIs as measurable metrics
  • Ability to work with UX/UI specialists to develop wireframes and prototypes for the newly proposed design changes and build or guide the development of wireframes and designs so that they are technically feasible with design and functionality specifications
  • Capable of preparing and setting up experiments, applying targeting rules and audience conditions, launching, managing, and reporting on testing activity
